I made some stinging nettle and onion pastries this week.
Nettles: not so scary once you've blanched them. Take that, stingy bits.

This coming week I'm gonna throw together something else nettle-themed, with some of the last of this year's wild leeks (they're supposed to be done in another week or two). Not sure what it will be yet, but it will be delicious. Possibly pasta-based.
I will also make some sort of scrumptious felafel-inspired sandwich with chickpea and fenugreek sprouts that I picked up at the market. Oh yes. It'll be good.
Drop me a line if you'd like some.

news!

i have been negligent, i know.
i didn't even post a menu this week.

that's because it's spring! i have been gallivanting around two (two!) farmer's markets, have signed up for a CSA from Kawartha Ecological Growers and have been cheating on you by cooking for a lovely friend.

to appease, i leave you with photos of previous menu items.

These were the baked vegetable samosas with tamarind chutney

Remember those apple empenadas? They were great!

Not the prettiest dish, this squash and sage pasta bake - but super tasty!

More to come. There are gonna be some changes here at Library Food... I'll keep ya posted.

last week's meals get great feedback!

Dear Library Food,

We would like to provide a review on tonight's order (Meals 3 and 4 specifically):

1) Excellent pulled brisket. Soft, not at all stringy, well seasoned, and came with an excellent choice of bun.
2) Coleslaw: had good initial flavour, extremely fresh, but left an extremely spicy flavour (I gave two thumbs up, but Dave wanted something more vinegary, less spicy)
3) Green Thai Curry: again, very fresh, light curry taste, deliciously well cooked vegetables, huge portions (I'll be eating it for days!) I would say it's better than the other green curry I've had at Thai restaurants.

Good portion sizes; fresh, unique and delicious taste; friendly service; recyclable packaging; delicious and cheap option for student take-out. we ♥ library food

No Eating In The Library

Are you hungry? You look like you could use a big bowl of soup.
Let me make you some roast chicken, maybe a muffin, a piece of pie. I'll even bring it over.

That's right.
I'm proposing to make meals for you.
Meals that you can have on hand for a busy day, ready to heat up on when you don't have time to cook. Something healthy and filling for when you're too tired to think about it.

There'll be plenty of options.
I'll send you a list of what I'm making this week to pick from, or you can make requests.
You can add on soup, muffins or scones for breakfast, or something special for dessert.

Sound good?
Now who wants some chili?
